Car Control @ Pitt Meadows
Jul 14 @ 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Challenge your driving skills and attitudes by starting with our entry level advanced driver training program which we call Car Control school, a day packed with fun and excitement, suitable for all drivers. Our first level Driving School courses bring together the fundamentals of confident, safe driving via a series of exercises designed to improve your skills and allow you to explore the limits of vehicle control.

In our Car Control Program we cover key elements vital to improving your driving, such as seating position, steering technique, and vehicle dynamics. Exercises include vision, emergency braking, emergency avoidance and handling corners. The program also takes an in-depth look at typical driving scenarios encountered during inner-city driving and how to respond to them. After the new skills exercises, we finish the day with practice time, including a slalom where the objective is to compete against yourself for consistency, challenging you to utilize the skills learned over the day.

Training provided by the skilled professionals at Driving Unlimited.

Road Skills / HPDE Advanced Driver Training @ Mission Raceway
Jul 15 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Advance your driving skills with this full day training session held using the closed road course at Mission Raceway Park.

This is a mixed group day with room for Road Skills participants and Advanced HPDE participants. We will have three run groups, A, B, and C.

Emphasis of the day is on skills exercises for safe road driving learned in a controlled environment with qualified instructors.

Eligibility

Road Skills session generally requires completion of one of our previous events at Pitt Meadows (Car Control, Winter Skills, or Dancing With Cones) or Mission or alternate qualifying course.

Advanced group requires previous participation in two or more Road Skills courses or alternate verifiable course.

For the purposes of our Road Skills and HPDE, we classify drivers according to past experience with our club, or a recognized other club, such as PCA or PDC.  We define a novice as a person who has not completed a Road Skills Day, in the car they are planning on driving, with either the BMW CCBC or another group that we recognize and can verify. We will be splitting participants into 3 run groups, as this has worked well in the past and has met with general approval among participants.

If we cannot verify your previous experience, we will classify you as a novice for your first Road Skills or HPDE day with the BMW CCBC until an instructor can sign you off for a higher level.

Vehicles

Noise and safety restrictions apply at all BMW Club events, including driver training. Vehicles must be in sound mechanical condition, meet ICBC regulations as street legal and properly mufflered to allow normal conversation in the vehicle. The noise limit at our events is 90db. Noise is monitored at Mission by the track marshals. Cars must be equipped equally for both driver & passenger safety and comfort.

21st Annual BMW Car Club Concours d’Elegance @ Waterfront Park
Sep 15 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

This is one of the Club’s events that is open to the public. There is no requirement to be an official Club member for this event however to get the full appreciation of the BMW Car Club of BC it is recommended that you join.

The BMW Car Club of BC Concours and Heritage Celebration is an annual event to celebrate the BMW marque. We are fortunate to have a high proportion of well maintained older cars in our club, many of them are excellent condition daily drivers.

The purpose of our ‘Concours’ is as a ‘gathering’ to recognize and appreciate the various BMW vehicles manufactured for over 100 years.

It is meant to be a fun social gathering for club members and the public. Participants are encouraged to bring their BMW and show it at this event by entering it in one of the two categories. The Display category is for the showing and appreciation of your BMW. We recognize the beauty and value of these cars, and are encouraging every BMW owner that attends the event to display their BMW on the grass for others to view.

For those that have a competitive nature, we have the Judged category. Here we have a variety of classes and trophies for the top 3 cars in each class based on how clean and detailed the owner has kept their BMW. The judged classes this year will be:
– Classic BMW pre 1998
– Modern BMW 1998 – 2018
– M Cars

The judges will consider 21 factors of each judged car’s exterior, interior, and engine bay.  Points will also be awarded for age of vehicle and mileage.  Let it be said, “garage queens are at a disadvantage – these cars are meant to be driven.”

In addition to viewing all the cars, this is a great event to meet fellow BMW owners and socialize. It is an event suitable for the entire family. We’ll have a unique hot dog vendor on site available at a reasonable price, or you can bring your own picnic lunch, or head over to Lonsdale Quay for something exotic.

Every car entered will receive a 21st anniversary BMW Car Club Anniversary dash plaque. There is a cost to entering your BMW in the event.
Display $10
Judged $20

Participants that won their category last year are not eligible to enter their car in the Judged category. This gives others a chance to win the top prize

There is no need to register on Karelo – just bring your car and your entry fee. For those wishing to enter their BMW in the Judged category it is recommended that you show up closer to 9:00 am so that your vehicle details can be recorded for the judging that occurs later in the day, and to give your BMW those last finishing touches.
