On August 25th, the BMWCCBC once again held its annual “Show-Off” event at Auto West Classic Garage. This is an opportunity for Club Members to get together, showcase their favorite BMWs, highlight the vehicles’ features and history, and explore and learn about other BMW models, both current and classic. It’s also a chance to connect with fellow members and discuss all things BMW. The event was a hit!
Each year, there are surprises, and this year was no exception. No fewer than three very rare classic ALPINA BMW models were displayed by member owners, alongside an eye-watering selection of the latest factory M-missiles, and some significant historical examples of the advanced technology that BMW has become recognized for. Some of the rarest and most historic vehicles on display were from the Classic Garage in-house collection. These included an M1, a Z1, a 2002 Turbo, and E30 M3 convertibles.
Our event was once again ably hosted by Auto West Classic Garage at their Richmond location. Registered entrants were eligible to win one of a selection of impressive trophies, chosen by the votes of other entrants and attending Club Members. The awards recognized the efforts, presentation, and passion shown by the winners. Well done, all!
The beautiful trophies were generously sponsored by Auto West Classic Garage and presented jointly to the winners by AWCG and the Club Directors’ representative.
However, the star of the show appeared unannounced about halfway through: a very smart BMW 507 convertible roadster. We’re not sure of the year, but it was definitely a favorite! Unfortunately, it was not officially entered and so was not eligible for a class prize.
For the first time, our event was attended by the Camion Cafe food concession, which served up some delicious coffee and hot/cold sandwich creations. Their attendance was definitely appreciated!
This year’s winners were:

A huge thank you to all who assisted me with the event, the presentation, publicity, and day-of details, including parking, especially the voting procedure and tabulation. Thank you to Club President Kevin for being the Emcee.
A special thank you to Club Director Shawn, who not only handled the registration information but also designed and provided the graphics for the voting process. Thanks also to Rebecca from Classic Garage, who assisted with the trophy design, ensured they were ready on time, and helped with online publicity. And thanks to Leonard from Classic Garage, who enthusiastically oversaw the site before, during, and after our event.
And (I believe) a good time was had by all!
